UO JOURNALISM ALUMNI TO LOOK AT TODAYS MEDIA ETHICS

EUGENEFive West Coast media and public relations leaders will examine the current state of media ethics and practices in a 10 a.m. panel discussion on Friday, Oct. 23, in Room 221 of Allen Hall, 1020 University St. on the University of Oregon campus.
"Feeding Frenzy, Sound Bite and Responsible Journalism in the 90s" is part of the UO School of Journalism and Communications special four-day Homecoming celebration this year.
Panel members, all alumni of the school or members of its Journalism Advancement Council, include: Joann Byrd, editor of the editorial page, Seattle Post-Intelligencer; Mike Fancher, executive editor and senior vice president, Seattle Times; Dan Wieden of Wieden & Kennedy, Inc. of Portland, Patsy Smullin, president of California-Oregon Broadcasting, Inc., Medford; and Neal Rosen of Kalt, Rosen & Associates of San Francisco.
Other School of Journalism and Communication Homecoming weekend events include a black-tie dinner and Hall of Achievement Induction Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 22, and a joint pregame tailgate party on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Autzen Stadium with the Oregon Daily Emerald.
