ECOLOGICAL ADVISER TO WORLD LEADERS WILL SPEAK AT UO

EUGENE–World-renowned ecologist Norman Myers, who has served as an adviser to heads of state throughout the world, will speak at the University of Oregon on Friday, Nov. 6.

Myers will lecture on "Environmental Prospects: Breakdown or Breakthrough?"

The free public lecture begins at 8 p.m. in Room 150 of Columbia Hall, 1215 E. 13th Ave. The UO Institute for a Sustainable Environment is hosting the free talk.

"Dr. Myers is a preeminent ecologist and biologist," says institute director John Baldwin. "In addition to publishing hundreds of papers and 15 books, he is a valued adviser to the White House, NASA and the United Nations."

Myers’ speech will address resource economics, population and consumption, biodiversity, and sustainable development.
