EUGENE–Photographer Teri Warpinski and visual designer Ken O’Connell–both members of the University of Oregon fine arts faculty–will give free gallery talks starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Museum of Art, 1430 Johnson Lane on campus.

Their talks about their creative endeavors and interests will be presented in conjunction with the Museum of Art’s current exhibition, "18 Points of View," which showcases artworks by UO fine and applied arts faculty members. The exhibition continues through Jan. 2, 2000.

Warpinski, an associate professor of photography and associate dean of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts, received her Master of Fine Arts degree in photography from the University of Iowa. A member of the UO faculty since 1984, she currently works in several series that are unique, but interconnected. Each of these series–Field Studies, Painted Deserts, Vanishing Points and Fragments–is a combination of different media and materials that carry a belief in the environmental movement.

O’Connell, a UO professor of visual design since 1977, received his Master of Fine Arts degree in visual design from the University of Oregon. A teacher primarily of animation and sketchbook drawing, he has lectured on, exhibited and taught visual design in Asia, Europe and across the United States. O’Connell also has made more than 16 short films, several of them award winners.

Open from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, the Museum of Art is accessible to people with disabilities. Suggested admission is $3, except on Wednesdays when the MusEvenings! program offers free programming, refreshments and extended viewing hours from 5—8 p.m. Museum members, students with ID, UO employees and children are admitted free.
