Opening with a free public reception from 5:309 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, the exhibition will continue through Jan. 2, 2000.
The show introduces new perspectives in contemporary art created by the artists use of fine craft and traditional media in the construction of ideas. Innovative and experimental manipulation of space, form and materials and the integration of technologies are central features of the exhibit.
"As artists it is imperative that we test the depth and breadth of our disciplines through our work, setting a standard and example for our students of risk-taking and commitment to profession," says Kate Wagle, Department of Fine and Applied Arts head.
These exhibition artists represent the diverse disciplines of painting, sculpture, printmaking, fibers, ceramics, metalsmithing, photography, visual design, animation and performance. Recognized as leaders in their fields, their work is presented frequently in regional, national and international venues.
"Approximately every four years, we highlight the work of these talented faculty artists to pay our respects to their work and to offer their students an opportunity to see the professional work of their teachers," says David Robertson, Museum of Art director.
